Every year, the major shipping carriers increase their shipping rates. As a result of these carrier pricing changes, ShipBob directly adjusts our fulfillment fees accordingly. This year, we are planning to pass through carrier rate increases in two phases due to the staggered dates in which they go into effect.

First, we will pass through domestic rate increases from Fedex (excluding SmartPost) and UPS (excluding SurePost) and international rate increases for UPS Expedited, which will go into effect on January 3, 2022.

Then, we have the second round of rate increases that reflect the price increases for USPS, DHL, UPS Mail Innovations, and international rates from all carriers.

Notes:

  • These are different from the carriers’ peak holiday surcharges that went into effect starting in October 2021. The end dates for these surcharges range from the end of December 2021 to January 9, 2022.

  • All of these new rates are in line with what carriers are imposing per each annual general rate increase (GRI).

  • We will send you a separate update for the second phase of pricing increases once we have all rates from DHL, USPS, Canada Post, UPS MI, and other international rates across all carriers. This second round of increases will go into effect in early-mid January 2022.

Disposal Charge Decrease

We are excited to announce a new pricing structure for disposal orders that will decrease the cost burden on our customers. The new pricing structure will consist of a per-item disposal fee with a price cap based on the item location. It will go into effect on January 9, 2022.

Disposal Pricing:

Disposal orders will be billed on either a per item fee or a location fee — whichever one is lower:

  • Per Item Fee: $1.55

  • Location Cap Fee:

    • Pallet: It’s decreasing from $500 to $300 (A $200 decrease).

    • Shelf: It’s decreasing from $100 to $32 (A $68 decrease).

Notes:

  • In addition to the above, standard pick fees will continue to apply to all disposal orders.

  • The new pricing structure will only apply to standard (non-dangerous) items. For items containing dangerous materials, a quote for disposal can be provided by our Merchant Care team upon request.
