What is PitBob: A limited service that is available at select ShipBob locations where orders are kitted at pack per merchant instructions.

For a quote, please contact your merchant success manager or support at support@shipbob.com.

Similar to Kitting, PitBob takes multiple SKUs from your inventory and assembles them in a particular manner. The key difference is:

  • Unlike Kitting which is performed in advance of customers placing orders, PitBob orders are performed during the normal order fulfillment process.

  • Since Pitbob is performed in a dynamic fashion, only low complexity projects are approved in order to maintain a reliable service. Low complexity means the process must be reliably repeatable.

  • Once you are set up as a PitBob client, all orders will need to be processed via PitBob

An Example: You sell 3 SKUs of a shirts, 2 SKUs of hats and 2 SKUS of tissue paper. You want orders to consist of one shirt and one hat in a box with items wrapped in their tissue paper. The orders cannot be kitted in advance because we don’t know which shirt or hat needs to go in the box until an order is placed. In this case, PitBob could be a potential solution.

Where is PitBob available:

At the moment, PitBob is only available at these ShipBob locations:

  • ONT-1 (Moreno Valley (CA))

  • MDW-1 (Cicero (IL)) *

  • DFW-1 (Grapevine 2, (TX))*

We will only review requests for PitBob if orders can be fulfilled from these locations.

Who qualifies for PitBob?

You must fulfill a sufficient volume threshold to qualify for PitBob. Please reach out to our Merchant Success or Sales teams to ensure you are meeting a qualifying volume.

If the request for PitBob requires the use of equipment that ShipBob does not have, such as heat sealers, the request does not qualify.

You must provide all items that are to be used in orders. If you want dunnage to be used but do not provide custom dunnage, then we will use our brown paper dunnage.

Provided products must be in individual pieces or it becomes impossible to track the inventory. If they are not in individual pieces, then the request does not qualify.

For example - if the request is to use custom stickers for each order and the stickers are sent in sheets instead of individual stickers, then we cannot do the request because we will not be able to track the inventory.

Since Pitbob is performed in a dynamic fashion, only low complexity projects are approved in order to maintain a reliable service. Low complexity means the process must be reliably repeatable. ShipBob reserves the right to deny operationally tasking requests even if you are otherwise qualified.

What is Not Acceptable:

Shipbob will only accept one Pitbob flow per merchant. Since Pitbob is a manual program, we don’t accept multiple Pitbob processes where the FC associate must determine the correct flow for a unique order combination. As an example:

Example 1

NOT ACCEPTABLE:

● If the order contains items A and B, perform process 1

● If the order contains items A and C, perform process 2

● If the order contains items B and C, perform process 1

ACCEPTABLE:

● If the order contains A and B, perform process 1

● If the order contains A and C, perform process 1

● If the orders contains B and C, perform process 1

Other examples of acceptable scenarios:

● Use only clear tape to seal the box.

● Take label retrieved during picking, remove backing and apply on the box

● Place eyeglasses into eyeglass case

How much does PitBob cost?

The fee for PitBob is estimated based on the complexity and time it would take to complete one order. You must share a video example of what you would like done, showing each step of the process so we can first assess the request to see if it qualifies. If it does, we will provide a quote which we will share for review: once the price is confirmed and agreed upon, then the process for preparing for PitBob is started.
